The most popular hill temple of LORD MURUGA is situated at Palani. The presiding deity SRI DHANDAYUTHAPANI SWAMY, stands atop the hill temple in the form of a Sanyasi (one who has renunciated the worldly pleasures).

Palani Murugan is reputed to be the KALI YUGA VARADHAN ( one who is the most benovelent in this Kali Yuga). Palani is the chosen Kshetra (place) for those who want to attain Mukthi in KALI YUGA.
